{"id":226,"date":"2019-05-18T04:21:37","date_gmt":"2019-05-18T04:21:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2472armycadets.ca\/?page_id=226"},"modified":"2025-09-13T04:34:37","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T04:34:37","slug":"about-cadets","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/2472armycadets.ca\/index.php\/about-cadets\/","title":{"rendered":"About Cadets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe title=\"Army Cadet Promotional Video\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bm-YqgTovTQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\t\t<\/p>\n<h4>AIMS OF THE CANADIAN CADET MOVEMENT (CCM)<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>To develop in youth the attributes of good leadership and citizenship;<\/li>\n<li>To promote physical fitness; and,<\/li>\n<li>To instill an interest in the sea, land, and air activities of the Canadian Forces.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>TYPES OF TRAINING<\/h4>\n<p><strong><u>I \u2013 Mandatory Training:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This training is completed during Tuesday night parades and on certain weekend training exercises. \u00a0It includes a number of subjects that all cadets become familiarized with. \u00a0These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>outdoor adventure training &#8211; including camping, hiking, canoeing, etc.<\/li>\n<li>navigation training &#8211; using a compass &amp; map reading<\/li>\n<li>leadership and team building<\/li>\n<li>citizenship and history<\/li>\n<li>CF familiarization, tradition and history<\/li>\n<li>physical fitness training and testing<\/li>\n<li>marksmanship training (on the 853C Air Rifle)<\/li>\n<li>drill<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>II \u2013 Supplemental Training Opportunities:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This training is complementary to the core program and is conducted during separate training hours usually on a an weekend or evening during the week. These activities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>rock climbing and other adventure training<\/li>\n<li>competitive marksmanship<\/li>\n<li>music training<\/li>\n<li>biathlon<\/li>\n<li>flag party<\/li>\n<li>snowshoeing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u style=\"color: #555555; font-weight: bold;\">III \u2013 Training Opportunities:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spring Break Expeditions<\/li>\n<li>Summer Camp &#8211; Training opportunities can be at any of the CTC in Canada<\/li>\n<li>Regional, National and International Exchanges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AIMS OF THE CANADIAN CADET MOVEMENT (CCM) To develop in youth the attributes of good leadership and citizenship; To promote physical fitness; and, To instill an interest in the sea, land, and air activities of the Canadian Forces.
